Social Investment Business is working with film-makers Heyday UK, on a series of films that capture the impact of funded youth services as their Youth Investment Fund grant starts to transform services for young people in the most underserved and deprived areas of England.
One of the Youth Centres funded by the Youth Investment Fund is The Trin in Cleethorpes.
Once complete, the new youth hub will include a new boxing gym, a fully equipped gymnasium with cardio equipment, strength equipment and a performance area, a sports studio for use of aerobics classes, gymnastics, dance, table tennis, and opportunities to enhance young people’s education and skills for life and work.
Plans for the new youth facilities have been developed and designed by young people in the community, and the Trin team say that this exciting project has been a pipedream for many years, and thanks to the funding their vision is now becoming a reality.
The Fusion Centre in Grimsby is a youth hub for young people in Grimsby, but their current space can’t meet the demands of growing numbers of young people. Funding from the Youth Investment Fund will enable them to both extend their space and renovate their existing buildings into a state-of-the-art youth facility with youth cafe.
Among a wide range of youth activities, The Fusion Centre offers a boxing gym and fitness service, and the new extension will become a youth training and education centre to support young people’s wellbeing and offer them great opportunities to learn new skills for life and work.
One of the young people, who loves the Fusion Centre’s boxing facilities, shares why the youth hub is so important: “Recently I had a bit of a problem with family; a bit of an incident and The Fusion Centre was definitely my safe space. It’s where I felt comfortable. This is like my second home.”
