Social Investment Business is working with Heyday UK on a film project to capture the impact of the Youth Investment Fund on young people and youth services in the most underserved areas of England.
Filmmakers, Heyday UK went along to meet young people, Scout leaders and volunteers at 105th Sheffield High Green Scouts brand new and award-winning HQ. The Scout HQ opened its doors to children and young people in July 2024. The film shines a light on the state-of-the-art Scout Hut and shows the enormous difference the new space is having on young people’s lives.
105th Sheffield (High Green) Scout Group first applied for a Youth Investment Fund grant in early 2023. Their 60-year-old scout building was falling apart; it was cold, had no insulation and was expensive to heat and insure. The Scout Group is very popular, and there was a long waiting list, but they didn’t have enough space to support all the young people who are eager to join.
Now the Scouts have a bigger, sustainable and accessible space that has been designed around young people’s needs. Having more space means even more children and young people will reap the benefit.
In the film you’ll hear from some of the young people who love the space:
“It’s an amazing thing that has changes our lives.”
“I love the size and like the garden because you have got some space for fire lighting and toasting marshmallows.”
