Exciting news for young people in Norton-on-Tees! In early July young people and the community came together to celebrate the grand opening of the newly renovated 1st Norton-On-Tees Scout Hall. 1st Norton-On-Tees Scouts’ mission is to empower young people, support their health, well-being, and skills development, and to build a brighter future for all.
After months of hard work, careful planning, and generous support, the transformation is complete, and the group are welcoming Scouts and community back into a truly incredible new space. It’s been made possible with the support of a Youth Investment Fund £336,182.00 grant, and was delivered in partnership with their main contractor, Hobson Smith, and the architectural firm Mathew Trotter and Miller and project managers, Ridge and Partners. The project could not have happened without the incredible support of members, families, and volunteers.
The Scouts marked this special occasion with a celebration event on 12 July, welcoming guests, families, and supporters to see the transformation for themselves. The Worshipful the Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Stephen Richardson joined the opening event and helped cut the ribbon and celebrate the start of this exciting new chapter.
The building was officially opened by a representative from each of their Scouting sections, symbolising the importance of every age group in our Group:
- Squirrels: Finley Toland
- Beavers: Ayla Leonard-Smith
- Cubs: Parker Davies-Robson
- Scouts: Henry Whitehouse
- Explorers: David Storer
