Liberty Jamboree is an inclusive youth service based in Lichfield, Staffordshire for 8–35-year-olds which offers a wide range of provisions for young people with SEND/SEMH and neurodiverse barriers. Liberty Jamboree offers a range of youth activities and after school clubs each week including sessions around art, music, and sports such as boxing, rugby, and dance. Liberty strives to develop programmes which enable its members to have the same or similar experiences as any other young person.
Liberty Jamboree needed to find a new home for their youth centre. Lichfield District Council worked with Liberty to identify a new site and found a space at Lichfield Sports Club. It needed investment and a major renovation and extension to create an accessible and sustainable place for young people.
A Youth Investment Fund grant of £1,900,270.00 has funded a new two-story building at Lichfield Sports Club and will create a bespoke permanent youth hub designed to meet the needs of Liberty members. It will also enable the development of a partnership with Lichfield Sports Club to offer wider participation for young people who currently do not have any youth provisions in the Lichfield district.
Just before Christmas, Liberty Jamboree made a festive film to capture how young people are getting involved in building their new youth hub!
